Our Lady of Zeitoun — Mother of Light. Eight sacred-art T-shirts inspired by a remarkable chapter in Egypt’s Marian tradition.
A light above Cairo, 1968–1971
On 2 April 1968, witnesses reported a luminous female figure above the domes of St Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Zeitoun, Cairo. Further sightings were reported over roughly three years, drawing crowds of Christians and Muslims who gathered to watch the night sky.
Witness accounts describe a radiant figure identified as the Virgin Mary, brilliant light and luminous forms resembling white doves. Church records also recount reported healings and experiences of consolation. Following an investigation, the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate publicly affirmed the apparitions in May 1968.
