Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu

Modern relics for a fleeting world.

Our Lady of Ta’ Pinu — Gozo, 1883. Ten white T-shirts inspired by the chapel and pilgrimage tradition of Ta’ Pinu in Għarb, Gozo.

On 22 June 1883, Karmela Grima reported hearing a woman’s voice call her into the small chapel as she returned from the fields. The shrine’s historical account says the voice asked her to recite three Hail Marys. Around the same time, Francesco Portelli also reported hearing a call to prayer connected with the chapel.

As devotion grew, the chapel became a place of pilgrimage. The basilica that now surrounds it opened in 1932 and was raised to the rank of Minor Basilica in 1935. The collection’s vigil lamp, rose window, ex voto, golden rose and pilgrimage motifs honour that island legacy.
